"Monster Brawl (2011/Blu-ray/Image Entertainment)" Review

Review: Have you ever seen a trailer and wanted to see that film so bad? Well I think that would apply to everyone of course, well for me when it comes to Monster Brawl that is exactly what caught my interest. Being an old school monster fan I couldn't wait to see this film. I heard about it awhile ago and after long wait I finally got a chance to see it, but did it live up to what I was expecting out of it as being a all out monster brawl of the century or did it fall flat on it's face?

Monster Brawl has so many thing going good for it and very few bad things. The first being that I really liked that they made the monsters have a classic look, but changed it up in ways to make them not look too cliche. The one I really liked the makeup effects on was the Cyclops. I just loved the whole look of him. The second thing I really enjoyed was the cast that was not monsters which included the hilarious Dave Foley, Art Hindle, and the classic wrestler Kevin Nash and classic wrestling manager Jimmy Hart. Aslo you get the awesome voice of Lance Henrikson doing the narration. Also them showing the back story for each of the monsters was pretty cool. This film is alot of fun and basically a wet dream for any monster movie or horror movie fan.
Now I am not going to get into describing the plot of this film because really I don't need to. The title says it all. It is quite literally monsters brawling it out in a wrestling matches to the death. I think for the next film if they do one they should take the Godzilla approach and do a royal rumble type of brawl where a bunch of monsters fight it out all at once! Really they could go any way with a concept like monsters fighting and it'll be bad ass. Now I will say one thing, if you are wanting to see this film I suggest a rental before a purchase because some fans of the monster film genre may not dig it as much as others.
Something else that was cool to me was that it takes place in Michigan, being from Michigan that is pretty damn cool. Overall if you want a fun popcorn flick then this is the one to pick up!
