"Klown Kamp Massacre (2010/DVD/Troma)" Review

Review: What do you get when you take Friday The 13th and exchange it with a cast of clowns and a killer that is a clown? Well you get Kamp Klown Massacre. With a title like that you know you can't go wrong! Luckily I don't fear clowns or this would be a nightmare on DVD. Being that this is just a Troma release it could be good or could be just plain horrible. Well lets get into this circus full of murder and laughs!

Klown Kamp Massacre follows a group of clowns that are going to the re-opened clown camp that according to the local drunk has a curse on it. 15 years prior there was a bloodbath of murder that failed clown Edwin had committed at the camp. Now that the camp is open once again, Edwin is back for more blood and pies. Can he be stopped before the whole camp of grease painted clowns are slaughtered? Or will he have his last laughs once again?
I think anyone who likes slashers and horror comedies will love this film. It takes the best of both types of films and mixes them to make a fun film. Now don't expect anything groundbreaking here, if you have seen a slasher before you will already know what to expect when it comes to this film. Don't let that scare you away from watching this film. Like I said it's alot of fun. I was actually shocked by the overall great production quality as well as the acting. I actually expected something horrible like the stinker of a film "Clown Hunt". Trust me this one is way better! I really like the very different personalities of each clown, there is even a pair of clowns that remind me of George and Lenny from "Of Mice and Men". Aslo there is one who looks and acts like a juggalo, if you don't know what that is look it up.
The kills are great as well especially one where the big dumb clown goes to shoot what he things is water onto another clown but what happens is it's really acid disguised as water and half of the clowns head gets melted away. All the effects are done the old school practical style so you won't get a bunch of crappy CGI blood and gore. From what I gathered this film took a couple of years to make, which was a good thing because this film turned out great. Nothing feels rushed or unneeded and the pacing moves along great.
Overall if you want a fun slasher flick filled with clowns, boobs, blood, and a kung fu money then this one is a must see for you! With all of that how can you go wrong?!
