"Papaya Love Goddess of the Cannibals" Review

Synopsis: A team of geologists attempt to remove a native cannibal population from an island to perform atomic research, but the cannibals' female leader disposes of them one by one by seduction.

Review: From first glance I thought this DVD I had mixed feeling if this would be just a badly made cannibal/jungle film or if it would deliver something more. After watching through this film I have to say I was quite pleased with what I had watched. Of course you get plenty of nudity like you would with any other Joe D' Amato film, but at the same time I found myself really into the story and plot. Now the title of this film is kinda misleading because there isn't really any cannibals in the tradition sense of cannibals, the native people are more like people who practice voodoo. Now when it comes to the characters and the acting well the acting isn't that bad but for a flick like this it works out just fine and as for the characters the only two that really intrigued me was Sara(Sirpa Lane) and Papaya(Melissa Chimenti). Now when it comes to the gore and violence all you really get is genital dismemberment, cock fight, a heart ripped out, and some real pigs being gutted. To me this is some of Joe D' Amato's better work and is a must have for any fan of his. Overall this was a pretty good film that kept entertained from the start all the way to the very end and made me wanting more. I give this film a 3.5 out of 5!
