"The Human Centipede (First Sequence)" Review

Synopsis: Two pretty but ditsy American girls are on a road trip through Europe. In Germany, they end up alone at night with a broken car in the woods. They search for help and find an isolated villa. The next day, they awaken to find themselves trapped in a terrifying makeshift basement hospital along with a Japanese man. An older German man identifies himself as a retired surgeon specialized in separating Siamese twins. However, his three "patients" are not about to be separated but joined together in a horrific operation. He plans to be the first person to connect people via their gastric systems. By doing so, he plans to bring to life his sick lifetime fantasy, the human centipede.

Review: I have noticed that every once in awhile there is a film that is discovered that creates a buzz because the film has very shocking or disturbing content. Well this of course is one of those films that seems to be the modern equivalent to Cannibal Holocaust or Faces of Death. Now as much as I like the twisted plot of this film I honestly found this one to be very much a let down which could be due to all the stuff I heard about it before I had a chance to view it or it could be the very slow pacing of the film. I did find the doctor in this film to be the thing that really helped this film because honestly without his creepy demeanor I think I would of shut this one off 20 minutes into it. Now the things that truly drag this film down for me was the acting of the 2 females, bottom line they were just bad characters. Now the overall shock factor of the doctors scheme was bad ass and just makes my stomach turn every time I think about how the 3 people are connected and what happens when the person at the front of the human centipede has to go bathroom. Overall this was a film that has an interesting plot that would of been amazing if there would of been a better cast when it came to 2 of the 3 victims. I give this film a 3 out of 5.
