Quantcast

"Sympathy (2010)" Review

Synopsis: In a dingy motel in the middle of nowhere, a bank robber hold a young attractive girl hostage. Keeping her handcuffed to the bed until he is able to formulate a plan, things go from bad to worse when an escaped convict takes them both prisoner and sets in motion a dangerous and very bloody cat-and-mouse game of one-upmanship. Who wins in the end isn't always about who has control of the gun - but it certainly helps.

Review: If you want a truly suspenseful film and don't want a big budget cast and the over polished look of a Hollywood set then this film is surely the one for you. Now the plot in this film is not necessarily anything that is groundbreaking ,but it does have some twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout including an ending that does have a great payoff. Now when it comes to the cast I think they picked the right people who pulled the film off very well even with some bad dialogue here and there. When it comes to the gore in the film I have to say for what they did it was very realistic ,but I must say this is not a film that relies on gore to make an impact, it relies on atmosphere and a overwhelming claustrophobicfeel. When I say it has a claustrophobic feel I am mainly referring to the scenery because all you as far as that goes is the inside of a motel room for the whole film, which does make you have that feeling the further into the film you go. Overall this is a great low budget thriller that does well with what it's got and truly kept me on the edge of my seat from the start.
